Breakaway! is a little like American Idol or X Factor except that it features all local talent from curtain to curtain and empowers, rather than judges its performers. This “musical with a mission” tells an important story through Pop, country, jazz, R&B and rock hits performed by shockingly talented local singers and dancers, all under the direction of Steve Duffy (creator of the acclaimed SURVIVOR series and SHINE ON at the Spencer Theater). Along with the help of the Flickinger Tech crew (and lots of practice) you end up with a memorable, professional production promising one standing ovation after another. And the “feel good” won’t end with the final curtain. It plays forward. All profits from this performance benefit COPE – Center Of Protective Environment, in Otero and Lincoln Counties.
